Lugo Dominates Yankees: 'That Was a Pitching Clinic'

Back in New York, Lugo Shows No Mercy to Yanks

Nestor Lugo dominated the New York Yankees' lineup on Tuesday night, tossing a complete game shutout in the Miami Marlins' 7-0 victory.

The 25-year-old right-hander allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out eight Yankees batters. It was the first complete game of Lugo's career and the first shutout by a Marlins pitcher since 2019.

Lugo's Dominant Performance

Lugo was in control from the start, retiring the first 10 batters he faced. He allowed a single to Aaron Judge in the fourth inning, but quickly recovered to strike out the next two batters.

Lugo's fastball was clocked as high as 95 mph, and he used it to keep the Yankees off balance. He also mixed in a sharp slider and a changeup to keep hitters guessing.

Marlins Offense Provides Support

The Marlins offense provided Lugo with plenty of support, scoring seven runs on 11 hits. Jesus Aguilar led the way with a 3-for-5 performance, including a home run and two RBIs.

Miguel Rojas and Bryan De La Cruz each had two hits and an RBI. Jazz Chisholm Jr. also chipped in with a double and two runs scored.

Yankees' Struggles Continue

The Yankees have now lost five of their last six games. Their offense has been particularly anemic, scoring just 10 runs in those six games.

Aaron Judge has been the only bright spot in the Yankees' lineup, hitting a home run in each of the last four games. However, the rest of the team has struggled to produce.
